Borussia Dortmund confident of progressing to the Champions League knockout stage- UCL news
German champions Borussia Dortmund are confident of qualifying for the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League this season. The side drew its first group stage match against Arsenal 1-1 at the Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday earlier
this week.
Borussia Dortmund are drawn in Group F of the Champions League. The Group is one arguably one of the toughest this season with English giants Arsenal, French side Olympique Marseille and Greek side Olympiacos the other members.
The Borussians drew 1-1 in the first match against Arsenal whereas Marseille defeated the Greeks 1-0 at the latter’s home ground.
Dortmund midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sebastian-Kehl-c32732 admitted that his side has a tough group this season in the Champions League and is confident that Dortmund will be able to qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament. He insisted that Arsenal
will be the obvious favourites to win the group but added that there may be surprises as Arsene Wenger’s side is not in the best of form.
“Even before the group stage started we thought we were in a very balanced group, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 being the obvious favourites. That gives us hope and coming from behind in this match was important for the morale of the team,” he
was quoted as saying in an interview to Bundesliga.de.
The midfielder added that the next two matches will determine the position of the side in the competition as they are both away from home against Marseille and Olympiacos. He added that the late draw against the Gunners will surely
give the team huge confidence as the players played some great football throughout the match.
“We'll see where we truly stand in the group and how far our Champions League journey will go after the next two matches that are both away from home. The way in which we played will give us courage as we face the tasks ahead,”
the German international concluded.
Die Borussen are currently third in Group F of the UEFA Champions League with one point from one game.
