Borussia Dortmund defender Lukasz Piszczek signs three-year contract extension- Bundesliga news
Borussia Dortmund right-back Lukasz Piszczek has pledged his future for Borussia Dortmund and has signed a three-year contract extension with the German champions. The player’s current contract was set to expire in the summer of
2013 but transfer speculation forced the club to offer the full-back a new deal.
The Polish international had been linked to a host of top European clubs in this summer’s transfer window including the likes of AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 which is why the Borussians have offered him a new deal.
Borussia Dortmund won their first Bundesliga title in nine years as they overcame the competition from Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen with the youngest side in the championship. However, the performances in Europe and the German
Cup were not that impressive as in the League.
The right-back expressed his delight on signing the new deal and stated that he is overjoyed with the contract. The player is determined to perform again for the German champions and wants to guide them in defending the title.
He believes that Dortmund still has the potential to fight for the honours despite some of the important players leaving.
“Borussia Dortmund are a great club. I am very happy to play for Borussia for the next five years,” he was quoted as saying in an interview to the official club website.
Borussia Dortmund’s Sporting Director http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Zorc was also pleased to secure the deal for the player. Zorc admitted that Piszczek has been a brilliant player for the club in the last season and he deserved to stay with the club.
He hailed the defender’s quality and was confident that he will continue performing for Die Borussen in the coming years.
“We are very pleased to extend our contract with Lukasz for the long term, because he is absolutely one of the top players at his position in the Bundesliga,” the Sporting Director added.
