Runaway German Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has denied rumours that his club is interested in signing the out-of-favour Bayern Munich striker Miroslav Klose in the upcoming 2011 summer transfer window.
While talking to the media, Dortmund Sporting Director Michael Zorc said that his club was in a good position in the League and it was natural for them to be linked with good players. However, he quashed the recent speculations and said, “We basically have
nothing to say on names and rumours.”
Klose has been a rare feature for the reigning German champions in the ongoing 2010-11 season and during the winter transfer window, he was heavily linked for an exit from the Allianz Arena.
The likes of Juventus and West Ham were speculated to be on the verge of signing the veteran German international however, the striker chose to stay with the Bavarians.
A local German newspaper suggested that Dortmund were looking to add some experience to the side for next season and said that the 32-year-old Klose was a perfect addition to the talented squad. Klose’s contract at Bayern Munich will be expiring by the end
of current season and if the striker is interested, he may join the current League leaders on a free transfer.
Klose’s former clubs, Werder Bremen and Kaiserslautern have also shown interest in re-signing the German. This season, Klose has struggled a lot in terms of breaking into the starting line-up as Louis van Gaal has preferred using on-song Mario Gomez and
Gerd Muller.
Moreover, with Euro 2012 on the horizon, the veteran is looking to try his luck with a club where he is guaranteed first team opportunities so that he can make it to the German squad for the tournament provided http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 qualify.
A move to Juventus was very much on the cards in January 2011 but the Serie A side chose to bring in former Bayern Munich man http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luca-Toni-c22526 from Genoa. However, Juventus may renew their interest in Klose during the summer transfer window but will face tough
competition from Borussia Dortmund and Werder Bremen.
