Borussia Dortmund officials pleased with the last night’s Champions League draw
Borussia Dortmund officials have expressed delight after last night’s Champions League draw in Monaco. The reigning Bundesliga champions have been placed in Group F alongside the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Olympique Marseille and Olympiacos.
Both the club manager and skipper were pleased to have been drawn with top quality sides which will give the Borussians an opportunity to further enhance their skills.
Club captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sebastian-Kehl-c32732 reckons that Dortmund could certainly go beyond the group stages. He told that his side are already looking forward to the event and will definitely produce outstanding results in the competition.
While talking to the reporters after the draws, Kehl added, "The Champions League is a great challenge for us. I think the draw was not bad, because there was the chance we could get stronger teams in our group. I am sure we have good chances."
Dortmund coach, Jurgen Klopp, also claimed of putting in great performances during the competition. He wished to lead his side at least into the quarter-finals of the event and was hoping to meet the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 or Manchester United at some stage
of the tournament. Klopp told that his side are fully geared up and will enter the competition with confidence.
Dortmund topped the charts last season leaving behind the likes of Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich. Having won the competition once in the 1996/97, the club will again be looking forward to achieve the same feat.
Klopp further commented, "We have been drawn against three great teams. I am very happy and excited and my expectations are huge. This is an exciting group, with great travels for our fans. Overall, in my view, this was a great draw."
With three games into the new season, Dortmund are currently sixth in the league table with six points. The reigning champions will be looking to extend their winning run in the league in order to enter the Champions League with confidence behind their back.
The Borussians are next up against the 2010/11 runners-up Bayer Leverkusen at BayArena.
