Borussia Dortmund score six past St. Gallen in a Pre-season friendly – Bundesliga news
Reigning Bundesliga champions, Borussia Dortmund, convincingly defeated a second tier Swiss side St. Gallen on Tuesday, July 12 in a Pre-season friendly. The Black Yellows showed no signs of rustiness as they easily ran over their Swiss opponents in a one-sided
affair.
Japanese sensation http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shinji-Kagawa-c33364 did not feature in the game. The player, though, is fit to start the new campaign after missing out on the second half of the 2010/11 term through an injury.
The Black Yellows started the match as firm favourites, and the game had the same intensity one expects from a regular league game. Klopp decided to field in his starting XI in order to provide them with match fitness prior to the start of the new campaign.
The manager was pleased with the efforts of his side and was hopeful of having another successful season with his young brigade.
Mats Hummels opened the scoring for the champions which was soon doubled by midfielder Mario Gotze. The Swedes were already on the back foot as Dortmund continued to press forward. The German side never really looked in any kind of trouble as the Gallen
boys hardly got a chance to move forward. Goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roman-Weidenfeller-c31655 stood as a mere spectator as his team kept on launching attacks on the opponent’s goal.
The Polish striker, Robert Lewandowski, netted his team’s third goal of the evening that ended any hopes that Espen had. It was just a matter of survival for the Swedes as Dortmund weren’t in a mood to stop. In the meantime, Gallen launched a rare attack
on the German goal and pulled one back through Canadian striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Imhof-c9978.
That goal proved to be a consolation as Dortmund continued their spree and scored their fourth of the evening through midfielder Kevin Grobkreutz. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-Lewandowski-c31255 soon added their team’s fifth and sixth of the evening – the duo ended
up collecting two goals each on the night.
The Borussians will open the 2011/12 Bundesliga campaign against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 on Friday, August 5 at Signal Iduna Park. The club would hope to further improve upon last season’s performances and retain their crown. Dortmund have a busy season ahead as they’ll
also be featuring in the UEFA Champions League.
