Borussia Dortmund start their title defence with a 3-1 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 - Recap
Reigning champions Borussia Dortmund started their title defence with a comfortable 3-1 win over Hamburger SV. The two teams met at Signal Iduna Park on Friday, August 5, to mark the opening of the 2011/12 campaign.
The home side went in with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 during the summer transfer window. The visitors also
went in with exactly the same formation. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mladen-Petric-c26139 was Hamburg’s lone striker.
Dortmund got the game underway in front of a jam-packed Signal Iduna Park. The crowd was delighted to see http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shinji-Kagawa-c33364 back amongst the ranks after missing the majority of the 2010/11 season due to injury. The home side started from where they had left
off last time around. Midfielder Mario Gotze was inspirational on the pitch as singlehandedly pushed the visitors on to the back foot. Kagawa soon came into his strides and launched an attack upon the opposition goal, which was saved by the Red Shorts goalkeeper,
Jaroslav Drobny.
The home side gained complete control of the game as they kept on pressing forward. Hamburg defenders were put under immense pressure and they soon faltered when midfielder Kevin GroBkreutz scored the opening goal of the match in the 17th
minute. This also was the first goal of the new campaign.
The hosts never relaxed and continued to press forward in order to extend their lead. Hamburg were completely dominated and never got any opportunity to move freely inside Dortmund’s area. Petric was presented with a chance but it was very well dealt with
by goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roman-Weidenfeller-c31655. Meanwhile, the hosts got the possession back and it was Gotze who doubled the Borussians lead on the 29th
minute mark.
Hamburg were slowly and gradually wilting as the champions dominated them in every aspect. The Red Shorts made one last ditch effort to get a goal back at the end of the first half but the shot flew well over the bar and it remained 2-0 at half time. Gotze
was outstanding during the half, assisting the first and scoring the second himself.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Oenning’s side came out with some flare and passion in the second half and tried to reduce Dortmund’s advantage earlier in the piece. The hosts were not to be pegged back and soon responded perfectly with a goal in the 48th
minute courtesy GroBkreutz. It was the midfielder’s second goal of the evening.
The match was surely over from Hamburg’s point of view at that time but the hosts never settled and kept on the pressure. Hamburg eventually got a consolation goal in the 79th minute through the second half substitute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-Tesche-c31278, who came
on for the midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gojko-Kacar-c15084.
No team managed to change the score line after that as Dortmund successfully started their new campaign with a 3-1 home win. The Black Yellows will travel away to take on Hoffenheim in their next game on Saturday, August 13, while Hamburg will host Hertha
BSC the same day.
