Borussia Dortmund vs. Bayern Munich: Sebastian Kehl and Bastian Schweinsteiger in war of words
Borussia Dortmund will travel to Allianz Arena on November 19 to take on the current league leaders, Bayern Munich, in a bid to cut their lead at the top.
The pregame war of words has already started, and Borussia Dortmund skipper, Sebastian Kehl, has revealed his desire to beat Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena on Saturday. He also stressed on the importance of staying fit and brave ahead of the game in order to better the Reds in their own backyard.
Bayern Munich midfielder, Bastian Schweinsteiger, disagrees with Kehl’s remarks, and revealed that it would be a lot harder to beat Bayern this season. He went on to warn the opposition ahead of the clash and advised them to come prepared in order to avoid a battering.
Schweinsteiger, though, urged his teammates not to take the Borussians lightly as they are dangerous on counter-attack. He also hailed the visitors' defence and predicted a mouthwatering encounter.
For his part, Kehl also praised Bayern’s current form but reckoned that the Reds are definitely beatable. He opined that difference in quality between the two sides is not huge no one can predict a winner until the final whistle.
He mentioned that it would be too early to predict a title winner, but urged his team to show commitment in their attempt of close gap on the table toppers.
While talking to reporters ahead of the weekend’s clash, the skipper further enthused:
"We showed last season we can beat anyone on a good day. Of course, we need bravery and have to believe in ourselves and push ourselves to the very limits in Munich."
Schweinsteiger expressed confidence in his team’s abilities and urged them to go hard; firstly, to take avenge the defeat from last season, and secondly, to open an eight point gap over the reigning German champions.
"It's much easier to see certain things from up in the stands than out on the pitch, but you can't do anything about it and that hurts. It'll be a close match, but I reckon we'll throw everything into it and end up winning. We have more quality than Dortmund, so we just have to make sure we show that quality. If we do, we'll be hard to stop, even by Dortmund." The midfielder concluded.
The German star has been ruled out of weekend’s game due to a collar-bone fracture and will only be available to pass advice from the stands.
