League leaders, Borussia Dortmund, will host 8th placed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Freiburg-c40462 in a German Bundesliga encounter at the Signal-Iduna Park, Dortmund on Sunday, April 17, 2011. Dortmund will be looking to extend their dominance on top of the league table, while
Freiburg still have an outside chance of qualifying for the UEFA Europa League next season.
Borussia Dortmund
Die Borussen are still unbeaten at home this season and have won 9 of the 13 matches played in their own backyard. The leaders have seen a dip in form of late and their 12 point lead on top of the league table has been reduced to just 5 points now.
Dortmund have won their last three home games against Freiburg with a clean sheet. They beat Breisgau-Brasilianer 2-1 in the reverse fixture between the two sides in November 2010.
SC Freiburg
The Breisgau-Brasilianer are enjoying the best season in their history and have collected 41 points from 29 matches so far. However, their away form has been poor as they have won only once in their last 8 matches on the road. Freiburg made a remarkable
comeback in their last league game against Hoffenheim and won the game 3-2 after going 2-1 down in the first half.
Team News
Borussia Dortmund
Dortmund’s top goal scorer this season, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jakub-Blaszczykowski-c17616 and Kevin Grosskreutz will operate
on their respective flanks. Mario Gotze is expected to feature in a deep lying role behind the strikers.
SC Freiburg
There no recent injury concerns ahead of this game for Robin Dutt’s side. Pavel Krmas will miss the game after picking up a red card in his team’s 3-2 win against Hoffenheim last week. Bundesliga’s highest goal-scorer in the 2010/11 season, Papiss Cisse,
is expected to start as a lone striker with a five man midfield operating behind him.
Player to Watch
Mario Gotze
The creative midfielder will be the main man for the hosts as he will operate in a playmaking role for the league leaders. He has been in impressive form the entire season. The 18-year-old created several goal scoring opportunities in the club’s 1-1 draw
against Hamburg last week. He could have scored and assisted two or three goals but the Borussians were wasteful in-front of the goal.
Papiss Cisse
Cisse is Bundesliga’s highest goal-scorer in the 2010/11 season with 20 goals to his name so far. The Senegalese forward has become the only African player to score more than 20 goals in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904. The 25-year-old will have to play a vital role if his team
wants to get anything out of this game.
Prediction
Borussia Dortmund are clear favourites to win the home game and anything less than a victory will be an upset for the league leaders. With Bayer Leverkusen lurking behind in the second place, Dortmund will do their best to clinch all three points. Prediction:
3-1
