Lamela, who signed for Italian club AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 last year in June, also admitted about interest from the German club. Zorc stated that Reus was always the preference over the Argentinean, and it was a perfect decision to wait on the
young striker.
Reus tied knots with the reigning German champions during the January transfer window for 17.5 million Euros. The striker will continue playing for the Foals until the end of this season and will join the Signal Iduna Park outfit
from next season.
The sporting director mentioned that Reus will add strength to Dortmund’s impressive squad, and perhaps is one of the best young strikers currently in the Bundesliga. He expressed his delight on acquiring one of the best strikers
in the league at the moment and is confident of a great future ahead.
While talking to sports publication, kicker, the 49-year-old former midfielder further added:
"There were too many uncertainties [with Lamela]. With Marco Reus, we knew what we would get. We will never claim that we can measure ourselves against Bayern Munich. The financial fundamentals are just too different."
Both Zorc and Dortmund manager, Jurgen Klopp, have extended their deals at the Westfalenstadion which is another encouraging factor from the club’s point of view. The manager is convinced with the progress of the club and has insisted
that the club is moving in the right direction.
"Right now everything is good. And all that's good is related to the fact that we have an outstanding relationship with each other. The players, my coaching staff, Michael Zorc, [CEO] Hans-Joachim Watzke, [owner] Dr. Reinhard Rauball
- this is really good," Klopp concluded.
