Borussia Dortmund have been dealt with a major blow ahead of the start of the new season with an injury to their star striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucas-Barrios-c22533. The attacker suffered a thigh injury while he was on an international duty with the Paraguayan national side in
the Copa http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Uruguay-c3035 but ended up on the losing side.
The striker complained about his injury during the second half of the match and had to leave the field soon after his introduction. It was believed to be a minor injury at first but as the pain aggravated, the player and the officials decided to run x-ray
test.
The reports revealed a fracture which would keep the player away from the football field for up to six weeks. Barrios’s injury has frustrated Dortmund’s manager Jurgen Klopp as he was first told that the striker would be able to make it on time for the club’s
opening game. The Borussians now have been forced to look for another option in order to defend their title.
Barrios himself expressed disappointment at his injury as he was desperately waiting for the 2011/12 campaign to start. The player told that the doctors have advised him complete rest and he could only start training after six weeks time. The Paraguayan
was confident though of making a speedy recovery and urged his teammates to maintain the same levels of concentration and composure as they did the last season when they won the title.
Klopp reserved praise for his centre forward saying that the 26-year-old was ominous during the last season and the club would miss him. He hoped that the player could get fit in time and urged the medical staff to work hard on Barrios’s injury. He also
expressed confidence about his team’s chances in the coming campaign and was looking forward to making a mark in the UEFA Champions League.
Borussia Dortmund will get the 2011/12 season underway when they take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 in the opening game of the season on Friday, August 5.
