Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Gotze hoping to better Bayern Munich for the title - Bundesliga News
Just a few days ahead of the clash against Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder, Mario Gotze, has hoped to retain the Bundesliga title. He also termed his team favourites against the current leaders despite playing away from home on Saturday.
Gotze believes that Bayern would have to fight hard in order to beat Dortmund, who have been exceptional in the last five games. The youngster also hoped to lift the Bundesliga crown this season and was confident of beating Bayern at home.
The attacker admitted of Bayern’s tremendous form thus far but urged his teammates to maintain consistency despite having to play at Allianz-Arena on Saturday.
While talking to TZ, the 19-year-old German international further added:
"Bayern are a superior team. I also think that they are likely to be champions this season. We will of course try our best to retain our title.”
Dortmund and Munich are set to meet on Saturday, November 19, at Allianz-Arena. The Bavarian Giants will once again be without the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521, while the Black Yellows are currently injury free and are expected to field a full strength line-up.
Gotze further stated, "Right now we are doing quite well in the Bundesliga. In the Champions League we have now finally got our first win. We have two more games, then we will see where we stand."
The reigning Bundesliga champions took time to get going and have gradually crawled their way up the table. Jurgen Klopp’s men are currently second in the league table and find themselves five points adrift of the German giants. They are level on points
with Werder Bremen and last year relegation contenders, Borussia Monchengladbach.
Mario reckoned that a win over the Reds on Saturday would certainly induce a fresh tonic amongst his teammates and, at the same time, will make life difficult for the table toppers.
Bayern have only been beaten twice this season so far with the latest loss coming against Hannover on October 23. Munich lost that game by a 2-1 margin.
A win for Dortmund on Saturday will leave them two points short of the current leaders. A defeat, on the other hands, will open an eight point gap between the two title contenders.
