Borussia Dortmund’s Director of Sport Michael Zorc has described the club’s UEFA Champions League game against Olympiakos as very important and a last chance to redeem themselves. He claimed that another poor performance would surely finish their chances of progressing in the competition.
Die Borussen will take on Olympiakos at the Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday, November 1, in their fourth match of the group stage fixtures. They have currently been unable to secure any victories in the competition and have tasted defeat in two of the three matches played. Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp also stressed on the importance of a win against the Greek opposition. He stated that the players are determined to prove their worth in Europe with a victory and good results in the remaining games also. He also insisted that the team will prove the critics wrong who have labelled the German team’s performance last season as a fluke.
“I still do not understand why we have not reached the levels of the Bundesliga in the Champions League. We will prove that we can also compete in Europe - and that is only with a win.
