Borussia Dortmund’s Shinji Kagawa not upbeat after his first Champions League goal
Having scored a late consolation goal against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shinji-Kagawa-c33364, has achieved a new milestone in his career. The player scored his first ever Champions League goal but couldn’t save his team from the face of
defeat.
Dortmund travelled away to Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, November 23, for a must-win encounter. The reigning German champions suffered a 2-1 setback, making their stay difficult in Europe’s elite club competition.
Arsenal registered a relatively easy win over Jurgen Klopp’s men, but not before Shinji Kagawa’s debut goal in the competition. The Japanese international's stoppage time strike restored some pride in Dortmund’s rank.
Kagawa expressed disappointment at his team’s loss on Wednesday, especially after enjoying majority of the ball possession during the first period. He was of the view that his teammates took the challenge lightly and ended on the losing side.
The Japanese international called for urgency from his teammates before resuming their duties in the Bundesliga. He reckoned that the Borussians should forget about this defeat and concentrate on the upcoming assignments.
He also lamented the loss of two key players inside the first 30 minutes, which made things worse for the Black Yellows. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sven-Bender-c34386 had to be replaced in the 25th minute due to a sudden occurrence of jaw problem and just four minutes later, Mario
Gotze was also taken off with an injured knee.
While commenting on his team’s performance after the game, Kagawa further enthused:
"I didn't think they'd get the better of us but perhaps we started out on the wrong foot. Because we had those injuries, to some extent we couldn't get a rhythm started.
"I thought that if I turned well I wouldn't have the ball taken. I didn't think there was that much pressure, but when I had possession everyone's reactions off the ball seemed a bit slow. When Arsenal's players came close to me they were able to exert their
strength, [Alex] Song in particular." The midfielder also added.
Dortmund‘s qualification chances are now hanging by a thread as they need to beat Olympiacos by a four-goal margin and hope that the Gunners better Olympique Marseille in the last group F game.
