Borussia Monchengladbach 4-1 VfL Wolfsburg - Bundesliga recap
Borussia Monchengladbach played host to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 on Friday, August 19, at Borussia-Park. The Foals got better of the lethargic looking Wolfsburg squad who earned an early advantage only to concede four goals to inflict more misery on manager Felix Magath.
A brace from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Reus-c23733 enabled the home side to stay unbeaten in the league so far.
Monchengladbach started the game as favourites, coming into the game on the back of a win and a draw. The home side went in with a 4-4-2 formation. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mike-Hanke-c25699 performed their roles upfront, while Marc-Andre ter Stegen started inside the
goal.
Wolfsburg also adapted the same 4-4-2 formation. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-Benaglio-c11085 guarded Die Wolfe net.
The visitors started the game at brisk pace, giving the Foals no chance to settle down in the opening stages. Felix Magath’s side looked in complete control and kept pressing hard and earned themselves an early lead. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Makoto-Hasebe-c23206 took advantage of some
lacklustre defending from the hosts and Wolfsburg went into the lead on the 12th minute mark.
The Foals immediately found their lost touch and midfielder Marco Reus brought his side on level terms in the 15th minute. There was no looking back from the point onwards as the hosts started piling up the pressure on Wolfsburg. The visitors
tried to break the home side’s trap on a number of occasions but the Monchengladbach defence stood firm and never allowed the likes of Helmes and Hitzlsperger to break through.
Borussia skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Filip-Daems-c13733 scored his second goal of this year’s campaign from the penalty spot on the 32nd minute mark to earn his side a 2-1 advantage. Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath seemed furious at that penalty incident as he reckoned that
the decision should have gone in his side’s favour. Bobadilla also registered his name on the score sheet 13 minutes, later when he guided his shot past Benaglio right at the stroke of half time.
The story remained the same in the second half as the Foals kept on pressing hard in order to increase their advantage. Die Wolfe had their moments in between but they were unable to take advantage of the chances created. Everything ran smoothly for the
hosts and it took them just over 20 minutes into the second half to change the score line to 4-1. It was Reus again on the 67th minute mark who rubbed salt on Wolfsburg and Magath’s wounds.
The score line remained the same at the end of the 90 minutes as Monchengladbach completed a comfortable win over the lethargic visitors.
Wolfsburg will next be in action against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Freiburg-c40462 on Saturday, August 27, while the Foals will take on Schalke in their next game on Sunday, August 28.
