Borussia Monchengladbach are looking to tie down their highly-rated coach.
Lucien Favre was instrumental in Borussia Monchengladbach’s 2011/12 Bundesliga campaign. He guided the club to a top four finish by beating the likes of Stuttgart, Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg to the fourth spot.
Favre’s achievement of guiding a recently promoted club to UEFA Champions League playoffs is something to be proud of. He led the club without spending heavily on new transfers instead he focused on developing new talents and recruitment
young players with a lot of potential.
The Swiss manager’s teams are known to play good attacking football, where a lot of stress is laid on passing and movement. The tactically astute manager has the ability to change the tactics in the middle of a game.
After seeing his success with Borussia Monchengladbach the 54-year old is being chased by Marseille and Bayern Munich. Favre would be ideal for a big club like Bayern but his club are determined to keep hold of him.
His contract expires in 2013, and the club’s vice-president Rainer Bonhof revealed that the club are in discussions with the highly rated coach about a new deal to fend off interest from the European giants.
Bonhof also revealed that the club were fortunate to finish fourth, and now will look to cement their place in the top half of the table.
He believes it will be hard to repeat the heroics from the previous season due to the club’s involvement in three competitions.
"His contract runs until 2013. We are in constant dialogue with him and we are very happy with Lucien Favre's work, which we have made clear,”
“Everybody saw where we ended up, but everybody also knows that we now want to stabilise ourselves between fifth and ninth place. Things worked really well last year and we caused surprises, but now we are in three competitions
and it will not be easy.” He is quoted as saying in an interview.
Borussia Monchengladbach will also look to strengthen the team after the departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Reus-c23733 who was an integral part of the side that finished fourth. Attacking reinforcements are certainly needed if the club want to compete
in the Champions League.
