The Bundesliga outfit are in search for a replacement of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Reus-c23733, who recently joined Borussia Dortmund, and the club management see the Dutch international as a perfect addition to their squad.
The 21-year-old has long been linked with a move away from De Grolsch Veste this summer, after enjoying a tremendous 2011/12 campaign. The Dutch hit-man netted 25 goals while setting up eight more in 33 Eredivisie appearances.
His prolific form in front of the goal has garnered him interest from several top flight clubs including the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, Newcastle United and Die Fohlen.
FC Twente representative, Aldo van der Laan, has now admitted that he has personally spoken to the Bundesliga outfit sporting director, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Max-c24993 Eberl. However, he has stressed that they are far from reaching an agreement.
“Max Eberl was here for two hours, but we are far from an agreement. For us, there is no need to sell De Jong. We are ready to talk if the fee offered reflects the players quality and the time remaining on his contract. I can say
that there are many interested clubs”, Van der Laan said while talking to journalists.
Meanwhile, the Tukkers president, Joop Munsterman, has made it clear that his side does not want to let go of De Jong this summer, and has denied that a 15 million Euros offer would be enough to lure the striker away from De Grolsch
Veste.
“We don't expect Luuk to leave the club. We will not let go of him for €15m. You have to reconsider when an insane off is made, thought. You can think about €20m then”, Munsterman was quoted as saying to Eredivisie live.
De Jong has an ongoing contract at FC Twente that runs until the 2013/14 season concludes.
