  1. It's possible that the water valve or pump/motor was burned out when trying to run without water.  It will be hard to tell without getting in there and looking.

You can find help on exactly what to look for at a site like http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/.  They have appliance technicians that answer questions like this.

They have helped me in the past.

    Good luck.

  2. That should not be a problem. Hit "cancel drain". That should clear it. If not. turn the breaker off and back on.

Really the dw should have just sit waiting on water, and once water was restored it should have filled and started up.

  3. The only thing I can think of is maybe the motor under the dw may ( if it actually turned on) have a reset. I would think the dw would not allow the motor to turn on, however look for a possibly red colored bottom that popped out. Just a thought. **** luck. Another thing to try is getting a book from the book store that has a bunch of different do it yourself help book. It has done wonders for me.

    Good luck!!!
