Home theatre system needs receiver replacement. Any suggestions outside of buying a Bose? Any thoughts on matching specs? Thanks for your help!

  1. If it's a Lifestyle system, then the whole thing is pretty much unusable now. I own an older Lifestyle, and learned after the LEDs on the display burnt out that it costs a very high amount for a new receiver, and it also occurred to me that day that if any part died, I couldn't use the rest of the system for anything (you can't even use the cubes on a different system because they will sound wrong). I've decided now though to stop buying from Bose, especially since I've learned now that Bose isn't even good, and for the money you pay you can have so much better. Right now you have two options, either pay Bose the extreme amount of money a new receiver costs (don't, it's not worth it, they probably cost less than $100 to make) or get a new home theater system. Try to find speakers from Klipsch or Wharfedale, and any receiver/amplifier from Best Buy will do nicely, as long as it has higher wattage than the speakers (not higher than the speakers added up, but higher). Also, don't buy a Klipsch sub. They're good for movies but not for music. For a subwoofer, look at Polk, Paradigm, or B&W (not the car brand, Bowers and Wilkins speakers)
