Bose Wave Radio AWR1 1W

Older Bose Wave Radio- Does not have CDRadio powers up...display lights up. Everything looks normal. When you turn on the radio or aux (ipod) you don't hear anything right away, but after a few seconds you hear a loud screeching noise coming through the speakers. Buttons become useless.Must pull plug to stop noise.Plug in radio...start again...same result.Any Ideas?
