Bose speakers?

I was just curious as to why people actually like bose. Why would someone like such a poorly engineered, overpriced, and crappy sounding P.O.S. like bose?

For the same reason so many people buy and swear by Harley Davidson: Good Marketing. Marketing is advertising, which is just a scam.

That is an excellent question. Part of it is marketing. Part of it is gullible people. Part of it is people mistaking fake bass an octave or two higher for real bass that will kick you in the chest and shake your walls.

Many people do not realize that you can get "Bose" sound for 1/2 to 1/4 the cost of actual Bose speakers from any number of manufacturers

The same reason Apple computers get a good rap.  They have created a very good brand image.  This has nothing to do with the actual quality of the product.  If you ask your "average" consumer who makes the best audio equipment 9 out of 10 will tell you it is Bose.  MartinLogan, B&W, Vienna Acoustics, never get mentioned..... Go figure.
