Boss audio amp quality?

Hey I'm getting a couple high quality subwoofers for my friend and I am not familiar with any brand he wants. First of all, I'm getting him 2 kicker 12" L7's in a dual ported box to fit the exact maximum of the measures these subs require. I want to power both at 2 ohms, and overpower them by 200w each. I don't care really what anybody else has, or what other brands are good, just the quality of Boss audio monoblock class D amplifiers. How good are they, durability and wattage wise? I went a few years ago with a cheap brand lanzar amplifier and it fried in a couple weeks, I don't want the same mistake with this cheap brand. Let me know thanks

  1. teamssaudio is right. They used to make a good quality amp. Ugly, but good. Now they are over rated, run hot, and cook at the drop of a hat. Not a good choice.

  2. Years ago, when Boss was being built by ZED Audio, they were a very good choice.  Heck, used they still are.  But more recent Boss are not quite the same level.

ZED also built for Lanzar way back when, but they have moved in the same direction as Boss.

  3. Boss amps have never been worth buying, they were garbage then and they still are garbage. They are even worse than Sony, did not think that was possible but it is. Have you looked into US AMPS yet? They make really good amps, they are CEA-2006 compliant as well. There amps will do good with the L7's, nice choice on subs. Those are the only subs from Kicker worth buying.
