Boston Bob likely to win Spa Novices’ Hurdle – Cheltenham Preview
Boston Bob is expected to add fifth straight victory to his career by winning the high-voltage Grade 1 contest of the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle on Friday, March 16 at Cheltenham racecourse.
On the fourth and last day of the Pompous Cheltenham Festival, the Class 1 race of 3m distance will commence at 2:40 (GMT).
For the huge prize money of £56,950, total 20 runners are going to compete. Boston Bob is geared up to run against American Spin, Benheir, Big Occasion, Brindisi Breeze, Dawn Commander, Fill The Power, Fox Appeal, Grand Vision, Hard To Swallow, Ipsos Du
Berlais, Lovcen, Meister Eckhart, Mount Benbulben, Rocky Creek, Sea Of Thunder, Sivola De Sivola, The Bosses Cousin, The Druids Nephew and Tour Des Champs.
Since the very beginning of his career on February 7, 2010, the W. P. Mullins-trained bay gelding has been at the peak of his form.
After finishing first in his very first outing, he moved forward to win his last four races in a row from March 2011 to January 2012.
Being 9-4 favourite, the seven-year-old runner marvellously notched up top spot by a margin of 2 ¼ lengths in his last start on January 29.
Along with 5 epic triumphs, the maverick gelding has earned £70,831 in prize money. He has also got favourite tags for at least three times in his career.
At the moment, Boston Bob is at the peak of his form. By capitalising on his classic capabilities, the young horse is determined to clinch first rank in today’s mega marathon. His chances to thrive are as high 95 percent.
However, some of the hot favourite horse’s competitors like Brindisi Breeze and Meister Eckhart are likely to give him somewhat tough time on the course.
Brindisi Breeze convincingly finished first in each of his last three outings from December 2011 to February 2012, thus registering a fabulous hat-trick. Prior to this, the trainee of Lucinda Russell had bagged a big victory on October 16, 2011.
On the other hand, Meister Eckhart accomplished an epic hat-trick by winning a race each in September, October and December 2011. Rebecca Curtis’ young gelding notched up third spot in his last outing on February 18, 2012.
Out of the other runners, Fox Appeal, Benheir, Grand Vision and Rocky Creek are also likely to perform well in the race.
Thus, there is going to be a rip-roaring competition at Cheltenham today. Victory will definitely be a herculean task for Boston Bob. Let us see how he manages to thrive. Good luck to the gelding.
