Boston Bruins’ Game 7 star, Nathan Horton, fined $2,500 for misconduct during the sixth game of the series
Nathan Horton was without any doubt, the key player in the seventh game of the recent series against Tampa Bay Lightning.
It was a highly competitive game since both teams were all-in to clinch a berth in the Stanley Cup Final against Vancouver Cunucks. Game 7 proved to be a very tight game and the home ice advantage paid off for Bruins as they scored the only goal of the game to win the series and the Eastern Conference Finals.
This win puts Bruins in the Finals as they aim to bring the Stanley Cup home after a long time. The physical aspect in Bruins’ game is bound to result in unwanted challenges and ugly incidents. We have learned from the past that Bruins is a very physical team that likes to take down players more often than other teams.
However, this time there was a very unfamiliar incident that took place after the sixth game of the series. The game was played at the St. Pete Times Forum that witnessed Bruins loosing the game by 5-4 against Lightning. This levelled the series at 3-3 and meant that a seventh game was to be played.
Bruins was definitely disappointed by the loss and after hearing something from the crowd, Horton was witnessed throwing a water bottle at the Lightning fans.
Though there was no immediate action taken against Horton, but later a committee was set up to investigate the incident.
The committee decided that the player went against the rules set by the National Hockey League by acting the way he did.
Bruins’ General Manager, Chiarelli, confirmed that the player was fined for his misconduct but didn’t give the exact amount. However, later some sources revealed that the player was fined $2500 for his immature action.
"You know that's an unfortunate incident. I didn't really focus on it and I didn't talk to Nathan about it", Chiarelli said on Saturday. "He has been fined, so that issue has been resolved."
