Boston Bruins Mark Recchi happy at fairytale ending to 23-year career in NHL with Stanley Cup

After travelling with Boston Bruins President, Cam Neely, over the weekend to his hometown in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada, the Stanley Cup paid retired veteran player, Mark Recchi a visit in his hometown in Kamloops, British Columbia, which ended
the legendary players’ career with a cherry on top.
Winning his third Stanley Cup championship, Mark Recchi, now 43-years-old, decided to call it quits, after he had earlier announced the cup being the condition for his retirement. It was certainly an emotional moment after having spent over 23-years of his
life on the ice.
"It's an emotional time for me, but also for my parents", Recchi said while retiring in June. "They've been everything to me, my biggest fans, my biggest supporters. Obviously, I would never have gotten here without their support. Life throws curveballs
at you sometimes. The only strong thing for me has been my parents. They've always been there and watched out for me. It's going to be tough. It's going to be tough for all of us to walk away from it. It's been a long, fun ride. Back in junior, there were
questions whether I would play in the NHL at all".
Recchi began his major league career after being drafted as the 67th overall pick during round-four of the 1988 NHL Entry Draft by Pittsburgh Penguins. Instead of continuing in the minor leagues, Recchi was direct in his induction with Penguins
and played his first 15 games with them during the 1988-1989 season.
Over the course of his career, the attacking forward went on to play teams like Philadelphia Flyers, Montreal Canadiens, Carolina Hurricanes, Atlanta Thrashers, Tampa Bay Lightning and finally, Boston Bruins.
In all, Recchi maintains one of the major leagues’ best records as he boasts stats of 1,652 games played along with having scored 1,533 points (577 goals, 956 assists).
The Stanley Cup might not have been able to stay long with the legendary player, as it continues its journey towards Michael Lucic in Vancouver, BC on Sunday, 14th August.
