Boston Bruins Nathan Horton 'Day-to-Day' after being injured in Game 1 – NHL news
Losing Nathan Horton is something that the Boston Bruins now consider to be a major setback in the 2013 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Final series against Chicago Blackhawks as head coach, Claude Julien termed him to be ‘day-to-day’.
The 28-year-old right winger for the Boston Bruins went out with an injury during the first overtime of Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals and did not return after that. Boston Bruins went on to a lose in a triple overtime to the Chicago Blackhawks, which
became the fifth longest game in Stanley Cup Finals history.
“You look at what he's accomplished and he's a big part of our team,” Julien said. “He had a bit assist on the [Milan] Lucic goal on Wednesday. He's listed day-to-day right now, so we'll see.”
Horton has been with the Boston Bruins for three straight seasons now and is certainly an integral part of the club now. He was extremely important when it came to winning the Stanley Cup back in 2011, and they definitely need him to repeat it again.
“[Horton's] a guy who has been coming up big in the playoffs so far, so to not have him for the rest of that game definitely hurt us,” Bruins’ defender Torey Krug said. “But we have confidence in our guys. [Seguin] stepped up and played a great game in the
second half.”
After shoving Chicago’s Niklas Hjalmarsson into the boards, Horton bent over and could be seen to be in pain. He left while barely making it to the benches and was unable to return after that. For now, the Bruins have not disclosed what type of injury he
is facing, but with the next game still a couple of days away, Horton may be back in the line-up in time for it.
“It [stinks],” Milan Lucic said. “Everyone knows how big of a player he is for us, especially in the playoffs. He's also shown that he can score big goals at big times.”
Game 2 between the Boston Bruins and Blackhawks is scheduled to be played in Chicago on Saturday at 8 PM ET.
