Boston Bruins President Cam Neely Believes Shortened Season will be 'Sprint to Playoffs' -NHL Update
Right now, a shortened National Hockey League (NHL) regular season sounds pretty good right now as there is practically no major league hockey going on in Canada and America as fans continue to suffer.
According to Boston Bruins President Cam Neely, through CSNNE.com, a shortened season will be super exciting and a ‘Spring to Playoffs’.
"[The 1994-95 shortened season] was like a sprint towards the playoffs," said Bruins President Cam Neely."So it'll be just that, I don't know how many games if we do end up playing how many we'll be able to get into the schedule, but it'll be a sprint to
the playoffs and everybody will know that. It's just a matter of what kind of condition the players are going to be in because it's going to start off fast and furious."
Neely was also a player at the time during the 1994-1995 shortened regular season and he still managed to put up a top class performance with 16 power play goals. He is now heading a team that managed to bring home the Stanley Cup for the first time in over
40 years and is certainly one of the most intimidating clubs of all. There are many things the Boston Bruins and Cam Neely are looking forward to next season, but due to a lockout, everything is all on hold.
Over 600 games, meaning a little more than half of what would have been the 2012-2013 regular season, has already been cancelled out by the league, but according to experts, a 60-game season could still be on the cards. Having that would be better for the
league and ultimately teams and players, as they would miss only 22 games, stay within their conferences and still be able to keep the excitement high.
It will be interesting to see whether the next season will be one that fans will remember or something that will just come and go by without any real excitement or now. Updates should be expected sometime after the New Year as all games are locked out till
the January 14th point, which has resulted in fans losing out on the Winter Classic and All-Star Game as well.
