Boston Bruins Prospect Dougie Hamilton looking to make Stunning Debut after Lockout Ends -NHL Special
Boston Bruins have had the good luck of picking up some of the best prospect in recent years, with the latest one being Tyler Seguin, who they picked as the second overall back during the 2010 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft.
Seguin proved to be much better than his predecessor in the Entry Draft, Taylor Hall who was picked as the first overall by the Edmonton Oilers, as he potted 67 points (29 goals, 38 assists) in 81 games played this past season. His breakthrough performance
can definitely be seen as a major turnaround for the 20-year-old who had just 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists) in 74 games and improved by more than 40 points the next with an even better plus-minus rating of positive 34.
Now, it will be interesting to see how Dougie Hamilton, one of the most looked towards prospects in the NHL, will perform after making it after he was drafted ninth overall in 2011 by the Bruins, who had won the Stanley Cup the very same year.
Hamilton, a 19-year-old native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, has so far looking at his minor league performance, been one of the leading defenders that pack a lot more potential for the major league. He played the past three seasons with the Niagara Ice Dogs
of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and just did better each and every following season.
In 2009-2010, Hamilton potted 16 points (3 goals, 13 assists) in 64 games, followed by a gigantic improvement with 58 points (12 goals, 46 assists) the next year and a 72 point record (17 goals, 55 assists) in 50 games to his name last time around. The Boston
Bruins are seen to be one of the largest, defense based teams in the league and having a youngster that is not only a defender but can pot goals when needed is something they will truly benefit from.
Until the work stoppage comes to an end, Dougie Hamilton needs to continue improving himself at each and every stage to prepare for his debut, and seeing how he has been so excited to do so, Boston will certainly benefit after all that potential finally
comes out.
Boston Bruins locked on Dougie Hamilton to a three-year, entry-level deal this past offseason, giving him a total of $2.775 million along with an annual salary cap hit of nearly $1.5 million.
It will certainly be interesting to see what Dougie Hamilton will be capable of when he finally does make a debut but until then, fans will just have to wait and see.
