Boston Bruins Tuukka Rask saves 40 to shutout New Jersey Devils 1-0 -NHL Update
Tuukka Rask was definitely the star of the night against the New Jersey Devils as he blocked all 40 attempts on his net to stay perfect throughout, earning himself his third shutout of the 2012-2013 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season.
Jaromir Jagr fired off the only goal of the night on a total of five attempts made by him while Martin Brodeur, veteran goalie of the New Jersey Devils, was also looking to stay perfect, but gave one up 1:20 into the second round of action.
"I knew it was coming," Jagr said, who was assisted by Brad Marchand, according to NHL.com. "They always said, 'You've got to drive to the net,' and now I understand why they were saying that, and I never really drive to the net, now I know why. If I knew
it when I was 20, I would have 100 more goals by now."
"I told them [linemates Marchand and Tyler Seguin], 'I've got to get better.' I felt bad for them they had to play with me, but I've got to get better. That's for sure," Jagr said.
Jagr now has 15 goals and 12 assists to his name in the 35 games played thus far, along with 20 points in the penalty box.
This performance just might get Tuukka Rask back up in the starting lineup as he was backing Anton Khudobin for the past two matchups against the Buffalo Sabres and Ottawa Senators, of which both were won by the Bruins.
Boston Bruins are sitting pretty comfortable at number four in the Eastern Conference, ahead of the fifth place Ottawa Senators by eight points. The Bruins will be facing the Montreal Canadiens on the road on Saturday, before returning home to face off against
the Carolina Hurricanes.
New Jersey Devils are still below the playoff line and are tied with eighth place New York Rangers with 39 points. There currently on a five-game losing streak and need to win the next against Toronto Maple Leafs at home on Saturday to get back into the
race.
It will definitely be interesting to see how things turn out in the next couple of days.
