Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning have players from similar backgrounds – NHL

The Eastern Conference Finals kicked off this week with Tampa Bay Lightning up against Boston Bruins. The Finals will be made all the more special and exciting, considering the fact that both teams have players that belong to similar backgrounds.
The players who are included in the list are Tim Thomas, Dwayne Roloson, Martin St. Louis, Dominic Moore, Teddy Purcell and Mike Lundin. They all belong from the same background that is Boston, New England.
Goalkeeper of Bruins, Tim Thomas is 37 years old while goalkeeper of Lightning, Roloson is 40 years old. Both are among the most important players in their teams.
They are game changing performers and whichever of these two performs better can guide his team to the Stanley Cup Finals for sure.
Both the goal keepers are pretty much even with Thomas maintaining 2.03 goals against average and 0.937 saves percentage and Roloson maintaining 2.01 goals against average and 0.941 saves percentage with both playing in 11 games during the playoffs so far.
"The reason he's been so successful all these years", Thomas said of Roloson, "is he's been able to adapt his game to the way the NHL game has developed. I'm a guy along those similar lines. I respect that about him; he learned technique at a later age,
like I did".
Along with Thomas, another important player in the team, Martin St. Louis will play a key role. Both the players were part of the team that won the Stanley Cup in 2004 and are in a good shape to come up with the same performance this time out as age doesn’t
seem to affect them.
Martin has been quite productive during the 11 games he has played so far as he has managed to score 13 points and come up with some superb performances.
"I want to win another Cup", Martin St. Louis said during the regular season. "That's what’s next. Sometimes it's not the most talented team that wins; it's the best team. When we won the Cup in '04, it was kind of like that. We didn't have a lot of superstars;
but we still managed to win”.
Lundin and Purcell are among another pair of players belonging from the same roots but in opposing teams.
Lundin has done quite well for Lightning and has bagged two assists while Purcell has scored 11 points and is among the top four in the team.
Thomas was traded to Bruins from Islanders on the 1st of January and was glad over the fact that he would be playing more minutes that would be important and compete for the Stanley Cup.
Nevertheless, the Finals will be more exciting with all these players belonging to the same background making this battle more intense.
