Boston Bruins beat Philadelphia Flyers, 3-2 to get a 2-0 lead in semi-final: NHL Play-off Recap
The second game of the semi-final series was hosted by the Philadelphia Flyers as they were up against the Boston Bruins, but it was the Bruins who won the game 3-2 after overtime.
The game was very important for the Flyers as they had already lost the first home game and they needed to win the second home game to stand a chance in the series when it goes to Boston. However, this didn’t happen and with the win, the Bruins took a 2-0
lead in the series and the next two games, which will be played on home ice, they will be looking to win.
The game started off with both teams attacking and looking to score goals. They were on the attacking phase right from the start and it was the Flyers who scored two goals in the early ten minutes to get into the lead. The Bruins were not far behind as they
too piled up some decent attacks and scored two goals to level the scores. The second and third periods provided quite a lot of entertainment, but there were no goals. The game went into overtime where the Bruins scored to win the game 3-2 in the end. David
Krejci of the Bruins was named the Star of the Game as he scored the winning-goal of the game.
The Flyers were right on the money as they scored in the very first minute through James van Riemsdyk from a well placed flick shot. Both teams continued to attack, but it was the Flyers who scored once again through Riemsdyk in the power-play in the 10th
minute.
The Bruins were not far behind as they came up with a goal too in the 13th minute which was scored by Chris Kelly from a decent strike. A few minutes later, the Bruins scored once again through Brad Marchand to level the scores. The period ended
with the scores levelled on 2-2 with the Bruins making 16 shots on goal while the Flyers made 14 shots on goal.
The Bruins continued to attack and come across scoring chances with the passage of time, but they were unable to find the back of the net. The Bruins followed close from behind, but they were unable to score despite coming across two or three clear cut scoring
chances.
The period ended with the scores still levelled at 2-2 with the Bruins making 13 shots on goal while the Flyers made eight shots on goal.
The Bruins made a couple of shots on goal early on, but after this it was all about the Flyers. They dominated the game and fired shots on goal and displayed some excellent play-making abilities. The final period witnessed the Bruins making seven shots on
goal while the Flyers made 22 shots on goal.
However, there were still no goals as the period ended with the scores still tied at2-2.
The game went into overtime, where the Bruins scored through David Krejci in the 15th minute to win the game 3-2 in the end.
