Boston Bruins beat the League Leaders Vancouver Canucks 3-1 (weekend roundup)

The league leaders, Vancouver Canucks hosted the final game of Saturday as they were up against the Boston Bruins at the Rogers Arena.
A win for the Bruins would put them closer to the Flyers as they lost their game while a win for the Canucks would put them three points clear in the league.
However, things turned out to be totally different as the Bruins despite being the weaker of the two teams came up with an absolute gem of a performance that saw them winning the game 3-1 in the end.
Canucks were leading at the end of the first period but the Bruins managed to find their way back into the game and win the game 3-1 in the end. Milan Lucic, winger of the Bruins was the star player of the game as he scored a goal and made two assists.
Both teams started of the proceedings cautiously as they didn’t want to give their opposition any space being aware of the attacking capabilities of each team. They were very strong on the offence and equally matched this on the defence.
However, with the passage of time the shots on goal and play construction increased. However, no goals could be scored early on but with the passage of time things moved on in a positive manner for both teams.
Canucks with the home advantage were able to bag the first goal of the game. The goal was scored by Manny Malhotra from a superb backhand shot in the 17th minute.
The period ended with the Canucks leading 1-0 as they made 8 goal attempts during the period while the Bruins made 7 goal attempts.
The second period saw the Bruins starting off stronger of the two teams as they changed their strategy.
This change resulted in the Bruins creating chances for themselves every now and then. The Bruins successfully scored through Nathan Horton in the 10th minute to level the scores.
During the period, the Canucks also came up with good amount of scoring chances but they couldn’t find the back of the net. The Bruins also continued with their attacking but they too couldn’t score as the period ended with the Bruins leading 1-0.
During the 20 minutes of play, the Canucks made 10 goal attempts while the Bruins ended up making 14 goal attempts during the period.
The final period saw the Canucks productive in terms of shots on goal but the Bruins were able to deal with this. Though the away side bagged in only 4 shots on goal compared to the 10 of the Canucks but they were stronger of the two sides.
The Bruins waited for the right moment and then scored through Milan Lucic in the 16th minute to get into the lead. As the period neared its end, the Bruins scored once again in the 19th minute through Patrice Bergeron to seal the game.
The period and the game ended with the Bruins winning the game 3-1 in the end. During the period, the Bruins made 4 goal attempts while the Canucks made 10 goal attempts.
