Boston Bruins beats Montreal Canadians in a Royal Rumble by 8-6
Was it hockey or wrestling?
Boston hasn’t failed to impress and all praises for its home crowd whenever it gets the chance to show their support, after their wrestle mania with Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins has fought its way to victory on Wednesday night against the ailing Montreal
Canadiens by 8-6.
Now called the second most exhilarating match of the season, after the one with the Stars of course, Bruins has made a name for themselves in the league as “The Fighters”.
But everyone knew that it was just rough play and nothing personal.
"I think we were just play-fighting more than anything", All-Star goalie, Carey Price, said. "Neither of us really wanted to get hurt, but we are out there doing whatever we had to do, I guess".
This was seen when both goalies stopped fighting after the first few seconds and then just started talking.
Nevertheless, it was what all hockey fans hope for and it’s exactly what the Boston crowd of over 19,000 wanted to see at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
The ice rink transformed into a royal rumble arena when more than 8 players and the 2 goalies from both teams squared off to exchange a couple of right hands within 40 seconds at the start of the match, but you could notice the “fighters manners” as they
call it, which is not hitting a player when they are down or out.
That wasn’t all since it was a continuation of the brawls throughout the whole game.
Overall in the match, both teams combined for a total of 182 penalty minutes, Tim Thomas and Carey Price were awarded 7 each, and the penalty box remained full all the way through the game looking like a little clown car. Instead of the clowns, a bunch of
hockey players were stuffed in.
Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens, both, had 24 and 21 penalty calls, respectively.
 A high scoring game
"Today was a big game. A lot of points were on the line. Important points", said Canadiens’ key forward, Brian Gionta."It's just an emotional game, and that's what you saw out there”.
It certainly was for Gionta who scored his 200th NHL goal in the game.
The first period was Boston dominated, where Brad Marchand and Dennis Seidenberg scored consecutively within 15 seconds apart.
It looked bad for Canadiens, but they responded by scoring 4 goals.
In the first 13 minutes span, Boston also countered with 4 to make it a 6-4 game at the end of the second.
In the second 20 minutes of game play, goals were made as if it was a Basketball match, each not taking more than a minute to score. 8 goals were scored by both within 15 minutes.
Milan Lucic and Michael Ryder both picked up 2 goals each for Boston while Max Pacioretty also got his double of the night, registered for Canadiens.
It seemed as if Montreal was closing in on the lead making it 5-6 in final period with under 12 minutes to go but unluckily Bruins didn’t slow down there and made goal for goal winning the game 8-6 at the end.
Equal playing was the key to Boston’s success, but capturing the first period helped them in the rest of the game.
Had they not been 2-0 up in the first, this match would have certainly ended up in overtime or perhaps a shootout.
Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadians have had a strong season since both have a secure playoff spot and both need to carry on doing what they are doing now.
