Boston Bruins’ coach Claude Julien to coach Massachusetts youth hockey team during the lockout
Former professional ice hockey player and now a professional coach, Claude Julien is enjoying the time during the National Hockey League (NHL) lockout as he is keeping himself busy by coaching a junior team these days.
NHL is going through a lockout and a lot of hockey has already been cancelled since the 15th of September, as the pre-season was cancelled first and then the next four weeks of regular season were also cancelled. But Julien does not seem to be
bothered much because of this fact and doing the job, keeping him connected with hockey.
The 52 year old former player is also being a good spectator as he has been travelling freely to watch the games of the minor leagues like American Hockey League (AHL) and Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He has also been enjoying the hockey and watching a very
close eye of some his team’s prospect players and watching them develop and groom.
The Blind River, Ontario native made it clear it he is doing all these things because they cannot afford to do it in the regular season when games are going on and he cannot give much of the time to his family. Julien has also been coaching his seven year
old daughter who has started playing hockey and he has been going through a great time in teaching her the basics of the game. Like any other father his dream is to make her daughter a great player in future and become a proud father, as he said,
“We have time right now to do those type of things. During the regular season with the travel and everything, it doesn’t allow us to do too much of that, to be able to go out there and see these kids Last week when I talked to the girls team, you could see
the excitement, you could see they were soaking it up. You know you’re making a bit of a difference, whether it’s to encourage them or give them some advice and I enjoy it. I’ve got a daughter who’s 7 years old and starting hockey now, so I’m living through
it as well”.
