Boston Bruins come up with a 3-0 shut-out performance against the Chicago Blackhawks – NHL Recap
The Boston Bruins hosted another one of Tuesday’s games at the TD Garden, as they were up against the defending champions Chicago Blackhawks, a game which they won easily 3-0 in the end. Both teams were in desperate need of points but for different reasons.
The Bruins wanted to close the gap on the Capitals and the Flyers for the Conference title while the Blackhawks were looking to score crucial points and stay in the final National Hockey League play-off spot in the Western Conference.
The game started with the Bruins dominating the offence and also being tight in defence. They piled up shots and restricted the opposition to almost nothing during the period. The second period kicked off with both teams attacking right from the start, but
it was the Bruins who bagged two goals in quick succession to get into the lead. The final 20 minutes of play saw the Bruins scoring the lone goal of the period to get into a comfortable three goals lead. The period and the game ended with the Bruins 3-0 and
goalie Tim Thomas named the Star of the Game, as he made 32 saves maintaining a 100 per cent saves record.
The Blackhawks made a couple of shots on goal at the start of the game, but they were unable to score. The Bruins got better with the passage of time and created several chances for themselves. The Bruins were very strong on the offence but they were unable
to score any goals.
The period ended with the score level on 0-0 with the Bruins making 12 shots on goal while the Blackhawks made five attempts.
The second period saw both teams coming out strong on the attack and they made shots on goal right from the straight. The Bruins with some strong plays and combinations scored the opening goal in the 13th minute through Zdeno Chara to get into
the lead.
The Bruins continued to dominate the game and scored once again in the 15th minute through Johnny Boychuk from a quick fired shot to double the lead. The Blackhawks came up with some decent plays as well, but they were unable to score.
The period did not see any further goals and ended with the Bruins leading 2-0, as they made 18 shots on goal while the Blackhawks made 12.
The final 20 minutes of play started off with the Bruins scoring the lone goal in the sixth minute through Nathan Horton from a well placed flick-shot. The Blackhawks dominated the game and fired several shots on goal, but they were unable score.
The period and game ended with the Bruins winning the game 3-0.
