Boston Bruins’ defenseman Adam McQuaid expected to be part of Boston Bruins for Game 1
If Adam McQuaid is able to be fully fit as expected, then he will be part of the Boston Bruins’ line-up for the first game of the Conference Finals as Bruins faces Tampa Bay Lightning this Saturday.
McQuaid was seriously injured in Game 2 of the series against Philadelphia Flyers that witnessed him going out of action for the next two games.
He isn’t fully fit and still needs a day or two of bed rest. However, the defenseman was eager to spend time on ice and hoped that he would be able to neutralise any sort of pressure that would be put on him by Lightning’s offence.
"As far as I know, I should be good to go", McQuaid said after a spirited practice at the TD Garden on Thursday. "I feel good. I guess we'll see when the time comes".
Bruins has already had six days off and there is still one day left. All the players who would have been facing the problem of fatigue and tiredness would be fully fit and fresh when the Conference Finals kicks off this Saturday.
With the return of McQuaid in the team, he will build a very strong defence alongside Tomas Kaberle.
Bruins had to constantly face the problem of rotating players against Flyers since the players were constantly feeling the heat of playing consecutive games.
Now that the players have had almost a week’s rest, Boston’s coach, Claude Julien, would be hoping that he can start with the best players in the team.
The team would definitely go for the formidable backline that would see Dennis Seidenberg and Zdeno Chara starting alongside McQuaid and would surely give the opponents a very tough time.
All McQuaid would be thinking for now is about starting in the team and spending time on ice since after his head first fall it looked as if there was no chance of him coming back for quite some time.
There will be no questions as to what role he has to play as the top most concern would be as to how he performs once he gets on ice.
"I've been out a little longer than the other guys; I can only imagine that they are ready to go", McQuaid said. "It's been longer for me and I'm just anxious to get things started. It was nice to get a little rest, but at this point we are just anxious
to get going".
His determination and eagerness to play will definitely play an important role as Bruins look to win its first Conference Finals for over 15 years and then all the way to get hold of the Stanley Cup.
