Boston Bruins’ defenseman Adam McQuaid’s unknown upper body injury lingers on-NHL News
Boston Bruins’ defenseman, Adam McQuaid, will undergo a treatment to an upper-body injury this week and is going to miss a few more games in the ongoing playoff phase.
The player is said to be not accompanying the team to the Washington DC for a game with Capitals and instead will focus on his unspecified injury.
McQuaid has not played a game or practised since leaving the side in the game against the Ottawa Senators on April 05, 2012 and now the management confirmed leaving him behind in Boston for the treatment.
Bruins’ coach, Claude Julien, said:
"He's not going to make the trip and he's going to stay here and continue to get treatment. Right now he's not ready to go on the ice and he's going to continue treatment. When he's ready to start working out with the team then we'll bring him with us."
Adam McQuaid was injured in the game against the Washington Capitals on March 29, 2012, as a result of a hit from Capitals’ forward, Jason Chimera.
He missed the team’s next game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on April 03, 2012, due to a swollen eye but re-joined the squad for Senators game on April 05.
Having been unable to finish the game, he left the ice halfway through and since then has been out while nursing the injury. He is now confirmed to undergo treatment again.
Since the team has not speculated much about the incident, it is difficult to suspect it to be a concussion.
Commentators have not weighed much the team’s statement of the “upper body” injury and apparently all sides are lacking evidence in support or against the possibility of McQuaid suffering a concussion.
The player himself, however, had said not to be feeling "quite right" after leaving the ice. Since then, nothing has been said by either the player of the team’s managers.
It will be a major blow to the side if the injury turns out to be a head injury. It is not the lengthy time required for its recovery, but risks such as returning of symptoms more often attached to it is the most dangerous outcome of such incidents.
Bruins, in the meantime, are confident about their playoff run. The management has not commented anything about the possible negative fallout of the player’s injury, whether they stand much affected in the wake of his longer absence from the squad.
