Boston Bruins disappointed after early elimination, look for answers -NHL Update
Boston Bruins were playing well throughout the 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season and mostly replicating the same as their Stanley Cup winning year last time around, but after Washington Capitals eliminated the defending team right in
Game 7 of the 2012 Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Playoff Quarterfinals, everything just shutdown.
"I truly believe that we were trying," Milan Lucic said. "We did everything we possibly could and we did leave it all out there.”
Bruins were baffled to have been ousted in the opening round after facing the same situations as they did last year and having nearly an identical line-up, Boston is now just looking for answers to their unidentifiable problems.
"Having all things considered, I think we had a pretty good year that the guys should be proud of," Bruins goaltender, Tim Thomas said on Friday, April 27, 2012. "It was an amazing run that we had that won the Cup, and it entails afterwards a lot of things
and a short summer, and we went right into a very long season with adversity throughout that season. Having said that, we stuck together and got it done to come out second in the Eastern Conference.”
After a disappointing Game 7 loss to a struggling team like Washington Capitals, that barely made the postseason, it was rumoured that Tim Thomas was considering a change in terms of teams, but shrugged them off terming Boston to be where he wanted to stay.
According to Boston’s head coach, Claude Julien, the Boston team had everything set to make a repeat but as some players allowed it to get to their heads, they just did not try as hard. For him, some players handled it better while others just could not
perform up to par.
At the moment, there is no telling what the Bruins have planned for their lengthy offseason that they will certainly not be accustomed to. Boston will have to firstly identify what their needs are and in which departments they are lacking compared to other
teams.
Updates on the situation are expected in the upcoming days and weeks as the offseason progresses for the Bruins.
