Boston Bruins dominate Buffalo Sabres for fifth straight win 6-2 -NHL Match Update
Boston Bruins continued their domination of opposing teams to show that they are here to defend the Stanley Cup championship by having won their fifth straight matchup, their longest winning streak of the 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season
so far, against the Buffalo Sabres, 6-2, Saturday night, November 12, 2011, at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
A sold-out crowd was present to witness their Bruins team win another consecutive matchup and Boston’s rookie forward, Tyler Seguin, certainly did not fail to impress by scoring twice and picking up an assist to lead his team to victory.
"You can never score too much", Seguin said. "Right now I'm burying most of my opportunities. But if you look at my two goals, I don't know what I really did. It was really just the line mates' work and me just finishing".
Thomas Vanek potted the first of the night early in the opening period to put Buffalo ahead with his 11th of the season.
Buffalo also managed to luckily kill off three power play chances during the first which they gave the Bruins when three of their players, Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford and Ville Leino, went out with various minor penalties.
Boston made sure that they did not stay behind after ending the second period as Rich Peverley, Tyler Seguin and Nathan Horton answered back with one each to level it, take the lead and extend it at the same time.
Chris Kelly, Tyler Seguin and Brad Marchand added three more before midway through the third and final period of regulation to secure the match.
Marc-Andre Gragnani added Buffalo’s second and last goal of the night, which was not enough with less than seven minutes remaining.
Veteran Boston goalie, Tim Thomas, surely enjoyed the night by sitting back and watching his team score back-to-back.
"It's pretty to watch. As a goalie, it's OK to sit back and watch your team play like that sometimes. You've just got to be ready if it comes back your way", said Tim Thomas, who had 21 saves for Boston. "We've seen some beautiful plays".
