Boston Bruins dominate in third to get second straight over Toronto Maple Leafs 6-3 -NHL Update
The Boston Bruins got their second straight victory to improve to win 12 of their last 13 matchups since the month of November kicked off in the 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) over the Toronto Maple Leafs, 6-3, Wednesday night, at the sold out Air
Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Boston had their perfect winning streak disturbed by the Detroit Red Wings on Friday, November 25, 2011, but ever since have continued winning big games.
Mikhail Grabovski opened the scoring with his sixth of the season on a their first power play opportunity in the initial 20 minute period to give Toronto the one point lead, but was equalised by Boston’s, Milan Lucic, with less than five minutes to play
on an added man advantage of their own.
David Krejci made the tie-breaker 3:33 into the second which was again tied by Toronot’s, Joffrey Lupul, who scored his 12th of the season followed by Bruins captain, Zdeno Chara, to take the lead for the visitors once again.
"That's a good hockey team -- they seem to have our number. I was actually pleased with the way we played," Toronto coach Ron Wilson said. "Unfortunately, they got five or six power plays and we only really had one and a half. I thought we worked hard enough
to draw a few more penalties but we didn't."
Boston Dominated in the final minutes of the third and Benoit Pouliot extended the lead while Toronto’s, Matt Frattin, answered back at the 6:00 mark, but as Milan Lucic potted his second of the night and Brad Marchand fired off another with less than a
minute remaining, the Bruins took the match out of the Maple Leafs reach.
"We knew we didn't have our best start to the season. We kind of dug ourselves into a hole and we wanted to climb out of it and have a better record. We're focusing one game at a time, and that's what we did this month and tried to win every game," Chara
said.
Boston and Toronto will face off for the second night straight on Saturday, but this time at the TD Garden on the Bruins home-ice.
