Boston Bruins finds its game, levels series 2-2 against Vancouver Canucks –NHL Stanley Cup Finals Update
Maybe it was Nathan Horton’s injury that Boston Bruins really needed to create a spark in its game that eventually led them to winning its second consecutive matchup against Vancouver Canucks. Bruins shutout Canucks 4-0 in Game 4 of the 2011 National Hockey
League (NHL) Stanley Cup Finals to level the series at 2-2, at the TD Centre in Boston, Massachusetts.
It was only after Game 2 that Boston Bruins looked to be on the verge of elimination as Vancouver was expected to eliminate them in a 4-0 clean sweep after two exceptional victories.
Vancouver Canucks lost Aaron Rome to a suspension in Game 3 which sent Boston Bruins on an 8-1 shooting spree and now a clean shutout in Game 4.
Rich Peverley opened the scoring of the matchup, a little over midway through the first period.
Michael Ryder and Brad Marchand widened the deficit during the second period, scoring goals just around two minutes apart, to end the first 40 minutes with a 3-0 lead and extreme pressure on Canucks.
Rich Peverley secured the match even further after scoring his fourth of the playoffs at the 3:39 mark of the final period after which neither team was able to score.
Peverley’s second and Boston Bruins’ fourth triggered Vancouver’s coach, Alain Vigneault, to change his goalie, Roberto Luongo, and replace him with the backup goalie, Corey Schneider, which made Boston’s fans roar with joy at Canucks’ embarrassment.
Luongo faced only 20 shots at the net and only deflected 16 of them while Schneider saved all nine goal attempts after that in the remaining 15 minutes. Boston’s goalie, Tim Thomas, showed why he was known as the top goalie during the regular season and
blocked all 38 shots with ease for his first shutout of the series.
Vancouver had a huge opportunity to put Bruins on the verge of elimination and win the cup back at home for the first time as the series will now return to the Rogers Arena for Game 5.
Game 5 will certainly be exciting as both teams must decide what course they wish to take in order to win that priceless Stanley Cup championship.
