Boston Bruins fortunate to come across a considerable period to rest before the Conference Finals
Normally at this point of the year, there are only a few teams that come across rest period. This is among the most crucial time in the league with the Conference Finals on the verge of kicking off. Bruins wrapped up its last series in four games which gave
it ample amount of time to freshen up and get ready for the next round.
Bruins came up with a stunning performance against Philadelphia Flyers that saw it winning the series by 4-0 with a 5-1 win in the fourth game between the two teams on Friday.
Bruins was successful in taking revenge for the defeat it suffered last time out at the hands of Flyers despite leading the series by 3-0. However, Flyers managed to crawl its way back into the series, winning the next four games to clinch the series.
This time Bruins successfully finished the job but it has come across a few injury problems.
During Game 2 of the series, Bruins’ defenseman, Adam McQuaid, fell and injured his neck. Later in Game 4, its star player, Patrice Bergeron, suffered an injury reported to be a concussion.
Both the players now have all the time to heal their injuries before they get back on ice.
Bruins also has some aged players like Mark Recchi and goalkeeper, Tim Thomas, who need time so that they can gear up for the next games.
Bruins is eluded with tons of talent, many spending considerable time on ice. There are players that spend a lot of time on ice like Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg, 28 minutes per game, who will take this time as a blessing to regain their energy and
start from scratch, fresh once again.
From the looks of it, McQuaid will be fully fit for the series and there is a possibility that he will be in the starting line-up.
"McQuaid should be back for the start of the series", Boston’s coach, Claude Julien, said. "Things are looking really good for him".
On the other hand, things aren’t as good and healthy for Bergeron who still isn’t sure as to when he would be returning.
"You guys know he’s got a mild concussion, so I don’t think there’s much of a change here", Julien said. "I don’t know that every day is going to be (an update on) what’s going on with him”.
Nevertheless, with majority of the team coming across rest, Bruins is sure to be an even more threatening force once the Conference Finals begin.
