Boston Bruins’ forward Tyler Seguin hoping to bag good performances in the playoffs - NHL
Although Boston Bruins’ rookie forward, Tyler Seguin, hasn’t been able to come up with the expected performances during the few minutes he spent on ice, he is hopeful that he would do better in the playoffs’ Finals.
The star player hasn’t been able to spend much time on ice and has spent majority of the time sitting out in the stands or the bench.
The only time that he has been witnessed on ice in the recent few games has been during the practice sessions.
Even though he was the second pick in the draft pick this time but he hasn’t been able to perform the role for which he was brought.
The reason for this is that he hasn’t had much time on ice but do not doubt that he has the capability of coming up with game changing performances on a regular basis.
Bruins suffered the loss of Patrice Bergeron from the line-up after he sustained a concussion during Game 4 of the series.
The management has spoken regarding him saying that it is highly unlikely that he will be playing in the first game of the Finals.
With the Finals starting this week, Seguin has been given a chance of which he will be hoping to bring out the best of his abilities.
He is said to be working hard and gearing up to meet the occasion and some even predict that he is going to be the difference between the two teams.
"You can't assume that I was going to get in the lineup, but if a guy was going to get hurt, I wanted to do the best I could to stay sharp in practices and off the ice", Seguin said after Boston’s practice session on Monday. "I think I was staying sharp.
I feel like when you're working off the ice you might be pushing yourself even harder than on the ice. I've been trying to stay as sharp as I can".
Seguin is expected to play the role of a winger in the team and the team expects him to bring considerable firepower in the offence.
However, one thing should be kept in mind that his offensive abilities were on a downfall as the season approached its end.
He was unable to score a single point in the last 11 games during the course of the regular season while the player in the same role, Chris Kelly, scored four goals and ended the regular season with three assists in as many last games.
Seguin managed to bag 11 goals and 11 assists in the 74 games that he played, quite less according to the standards that he has set for himself.
Seguin is expected to come up with a strong performance as he will be hungry to spend time on ice during a competitive game.
