Boston Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli believes in team even after early loss in Stanley Cup
Last year was not a very successful one for Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League (NHL). The team did very well in the regular season as they won the title of Northeast Division and were placed second behind New York Rangers at the end of the season.
Bruins finished the season with 102 points, won 49 out of the 82 games that they played, lost 29 and other four were over time losses for them. They went on to play Washington Capitals in the first round of the playoffs and so much was expected from them
after a successful regular season.
But they choked and lost in the very first round. It was decided the seventh game after it was tied 3-3 after 6 games. It caused a lot of disappointment among the fans of the team but their management is still hopeful that their team will rise again and
will go steps higher than last time.
General Manager of Boston Bruins, Peter Chiarelli is very much hopeful that last year’s upset loss would not affect their next season’s performance. He has re-signed most of his last year players and also the coach in a multi-year contract.
At the conference where he was to announce Coach Claude Julien’s contract extension he was very satisfied with the move and believes that their team is capable enough to give an even better performance this season. He declared coach as a key member of the
set up and said,
"We feel that we've come a long way to keeping this critical mass together for this team because I believe it's a strong team and will continue to be a strong team. One of the core components of this, of this critical mass, is sitting beside me in our coach,
Claude Julien, and we're happy to announce his extension today."
The manager also talked about Tuukka Rask’s position as he is preparing him to be their first choice goaltender. Chiarelli added,
"That's what I've been telling him since he's been 20. This probably accelerates it by a year, but it's his chance to show us he's a true No. 1.”
