Boston Bruins’ goalkeeper, Tim Thomas, right on the money (Part 1)
Tim Thomas, Boston Bruins’ goalkeeper, is by no means among the players who have established their position as being one of the dangerous or intimidating players. He stands at 5’11 and weighs 201 lbs which reflects his calm and collective nature on ice.
He was seen fighting with Montreal Canadiens’ goalkeeper, Carey Price, and many said that it was no way near a fight rather more of a square dance.
However, there is one thing about Thomas that intimidates players when they face him. This is the fact that 9 of the 10 shots struck at his goal are saved and Thomas denies the opponent from scoring a goal.
In the second game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the goalkeeper exhibited a brilliant performance, staying on ice for the whole hour. He made saves after saves and in the end guided Bruins to a 6-5 win to level the series at 1-1.
On the other hand, Lightning’s shot-stopper, Dwayne Roloson, said to be the best goalkeeper in the playoffs, couldn’t spend more than two periods on ice and conceded six goals in the opening two periods.
However, the big shocker was Bruins scoring five times in the second period, humiliating Roloson.
It is almost certain that Thomas will be on ice no matter what the situation is in the remaining five games of this Conference Finals’ clash.
"I mean he's playing unbelievable", Boston’s defenseman, Dennis Seidenberg commented. "He battles, he stops, I don't know how many breakaways he stopped. And it's good to have him back there. I mean we definitely don't complain".
Thomas didn’t lose his concentration throughout the game and even the fact that Boston was leading by 6-3 didn’t compromise his performance. He continued making saves and did his very best to restrict Lightning from scoring.
However, they did score twice in the final period to cut the lead to a single goal but in the end, Thomas played an important role in stopping the opponent’s shots and winning the game, 6-5, for Boston Bruins.
Regarding the controversial goal that was scored by Dominic Moore, Thomas said, "I have been told the puck went off my head, but I didn't even realize it. At that point I was trying to find it, I think".
Even though Tyler Seguin did most of the hard work, scoring two goals and providing two assists to put the Bruins in a strong position at the end of the second period, Thomas carried on working hard till the end of the game to ensure that Bruins win the
game and levels the series.
