Boston Bruins’ goalkeeper, Tim Thomas, right on the money (Part 2)

Continuing from Part 1, we will be discussing Boston Bruins’ goal keeper, Tim Thomas’s recent outstanding performance.
Even though Tyler Seguin and Michael Ryder apparently sealed the deal for the Bruins by scoring five goals in the second period to put the Bruins in a comfortable position, Thomas struggled hard to keep the Bruins in the game as he ended the night with 36
saves.
The amazing fact ahead of the game was that Thomas was brilliant in the second period and was a one-man force. This is reflective of the fact that the defensive line was involved in the attacks when Bruins scored five goals in the second period.
Lightning also came up with attacks during the period, but the fact that they were only able to score only one goal, shows the sheer brilliance of the goalkeeper during the period.
The best moment was the save he made to deny Ryan Malone and it might have won him the player of the game award.
Malone was on the attack and it looked as if he would score a goal as Thomas was beaten by a fake. However, Thomas managed to recover and came back to make a brilliant save.
"I was determined at that point to not let them score", Thomas said. "I did have time to realize that it was Malone.  He wound up for a fake slap shot, but I had to be on my toes because I saw him beat (Pittsburgh's Marc-Andre) Fleury with it.  But he didn't
take it and when he got in on me I was just trying to stay with him and get any piece of my body I could on the puck".
There were numerous superb saves during the game, other outstanding saves denying Lightning’s captain, Vincent Lecavalier, and Patrice Bergeron.
The pressure kept on piling on Bruins as it was three goals down in the final period while Lightning seemed just moments away from levelling the series.
He made five saves in the final five minutes of the game to complete a brilliant performance. At the dying stages of the game, he was the only player in the team who was holding the team.
Lecavalier already had four points on the night and with the force that he was going, he looked as if he would score a goal or two. However, once again Thomas was Bruins’ savior, denying Lecavalier and making saves to take the Bruins across the chequered
flag.
"He's unbelievable", Boston's David Krejci said. "I know there were five goals (Tuesday), but some were lucky. He made some stops in the second period on some breakaways".
