Boston Bruins headed to first ever Game 7 in a Stanley Cup Final in its history –NHL Playoffs Update
Since becoming a National Hockey League (NHL) team in 1924, Boston Bruins, also a part of the “Original Six” is headed to its first Game 7 in a Stanley Cup Finals’ series in its 87-year history as a franchise.
Winners of five Stanley Cups, the second highest in the league, Bruins is experienced when it comes to Game 7s throughout the playoffs, but a Game 7 decider in the Stanley Cup Finals is a whole different story.
The amount of pressure that’s found in the final game of the Stanley Cup Finals is unprecedented and not having being in one really puts them at a disadvantage.
Nevertheless, Boston is confident that it will be able to pull through once it steps onto the ice at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Wednesday, June 15th.
"I'm proud of the guys", said Mark Recchi, who had three assists in Game 6 on Monday. "We had our backs to the wall, we've been resilient all year, and we came out and had a great first period and did what we had to do tonight, and it comes down to Game
7. It's one game now".
Bruins has played in 15 Stanley Cup Finals, the last being 21 years ago, back in the 1990 Stanley Cup Finals.
Five of the finals Boston has played, ended up in clean sweeps, five in a five-game series, and five in a six-game series, but never a seven-game series.
"Not too many people counted on us being at this point right now", said Thomas “It’s a great feeling. We battled hard tonight. We came to play, and its coming down to one game. This is what we dream of, when you're little kids playing street hockey, you
know, you're in Game 7”.
The Stanley Cup decider is scheduled to begin on Wednesday in Vancouver between Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins. It certainly will be exciting to see who overpowers the other to emerge as the winner and lifts the Lord Stanley Cup which is a dream of
each and every hockey player.
