Boston Bruins hoping for the best in Conference Finals
The series between the Detroit Red Wings and the San Jose Sharks has gone into the seventh game. By the end of the series if the Red Wings win, then the Bruins will no longer be the most recent team to have lost a series after being 3-0 up.
Boston Bruins, General Manager, Peter Chiarelli, admitted:
"We've had to deal with it in some shape or form throughout the whole year. Personally, it's something I probably think about it every other day at the very least. You just try to build on it, you try to learn from it, learn lessons from it -- I've had a
manager call me and ask how we dealt with it at certain stages, so I guess there's other people who are benefitting from it".
No matter what the outcome of this series is, the Bruins will surely be glad about the fact that they won the first round series against the Montreal Canadiens and then they were able to take revenge from the Flyers for what they did last year by a thrashing
4-0 series win.
The win also refreshed the memories of the old days, as the Bruins finally made their way into the Conference Finals for the first time in the last 19 years. The Bruins will be happy to learn the fact that their Conference Finals opponents haven’t had much
Finals experience, as well as they have appeared in the Stanley Cup Finals only once in 2004, and they won it.
The Lightning also came up with a brilliant performance in their semi-final clash that witnessed them winning the series with a superb 4-0 clean sweep performance. The first game of the series between the two sides will take place at the TD Garden in Boston
on Saturday 14 May, 2011.
Ahead of the game, the Bruins had their star player, Patrice Bergeron, on the injured list. When the Bruins General Manager, Peter Chiarelli, was asked about his condition, he responded by saying that the player was expected to miss the first few games of
the Conference Finals.
The Bruins goal keeper department is way better this year and goal tender, Tim Thomas, winner of the best goal keeper award (Vezina Trophy) two years ago, maintained the best goals against average and saves percentage during the most recent regular season.
The Lightning goalie Dwayne Roloson is not far behind but Thomas will be looking to win the Vezina Trophy this year once again, as he looks to lead the Finals with the best averages and is in good shape for doing so.
For now, all eyes are on the Sharks, who are in the middle of game 7 that has much at stake besides an appearance in the Conference Finals.
