Boston Bruins hoping to bounce back after a loss in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals series
Boston Bruins will have to learn from its mistakes in the sixth game of the series against Tampa Bay Lightning as soon as possible, since the final game, Game 7, is just around the corner, on Friday, May 27th, at the TD Garden, Boston.
If it is unable to recover and regroup, they would face tones of problems in the seventh game of the series in which winner takes all.
There is a lot at stake since the winner of the game not only wins the Eastern Conference, but also moves on to compete for the Stanley Cup title with Vancouver Canucks.
Bruins was already thinking about the seventh game and hoping to perform well, assessed from the players’ facial expressions after they left St. Pete Times Forum at the end Game 6.
"It's going to be a tough night, maybe", said Bruins’ forward, David Krejci, who had a natural hat-trick in the loss. "But, once you wake up tomorrow, you have to forget about it. I think we have done a pretty good job of that after a win or a loss -- to
forget about it and regroup no matter what. Hopefully, we can do it again".
Bruins can’t be entirely blamed for the loss since Lightning was superb on the power-plays. Nonetheless, it was undoubtedly careless, giving away three power-plays despite being aware that Lightning is deadly on power-plays.
Three goals on three consecutive power-plays helped Lightning in the driving seat and also assisted its result since Lightning won the game by 5-4 in the end to level the series at 3-3.
"We were able to fight back and give ourselves a chance", a defiant Milan Lucic said. "You have to be confident. You gotta believe. You can't have any regrets. Everything is on the line here”.
Bruins was able to make a late comeback in the game which was too late.
Bruins scored a goal as well but couldn’t level the scores. The Bruins’ administration and team believes that if they are able to come up with the same level of performance as the final 10 minutes of Game 6, they can come up with a win in Game 7.
Currently, there are a number of factors in favour of Bruins for Game 7.
The 2011 play-offs have already seen five series going into the seventh game. The seventh game of the series will be played at the TD Garden, home of Boston Bruins.
Bruins’ confidence would be boosted, considering the fact that out of five game sevens, four games have been won by the team while playing on home ice.
Lightning would look at the fact that it is the only team to come up with the sole away win in Game 7 against Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the play-offs to boost its confidence.
