Boston Bruins host Philadelphia Flyers at TD Garden – Game 3, NHL playoffs preview
The third game of the semi-final series between Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins will be played at the TD Garden this Wednesday.
The game is very important for the Flyers as they have already lost the first two games and need a win to keep hopes of a comeback alive. However, on the other side the Bruins will be looking to win and come closer to sealing the series but it should be
remembered that the Flyers beat the Bruins in 2010 in the semi-finals after being 3-0 down.
David Krejci was the star of the first game as he got in a few goals and assists but his second game performance showed why he is one of the game winning players. The game went into overtime and once again it was Krejci who scored the winning goal to put
the Bruins 2-0 up in the series as they look to make their way into the Conference finals.
Not only was Krejci the outclass performer in the game but goalkeeper Tim Thomas also did a tremendous job while guarding the goals. The Flyers fired 54 shots on goal during the entire second game but he allowed only two goals and made 32 saves in the final
period and the overtime to win the game for the Bruins in the end.
The Bruins look upon captain Zdeno Chara whenever we talk about their defence but he has not been in the best of touches so far. He has played eight games in the playoffs that have yielded only one point for him so far.
Dennis Seidenberg on the other hand has done pretty well as he has scored five points in the last nine games and maintains a plus five rating. He is one of the highest average ice-time men in the team and spent a game high 36 minutes and 26 seconds on ice.
“I would say he's a horse,” coach Claude Julien told reporters Tuesday. “He's strong, and you look at the minutes he's been logging as well, (and) he doesn't get tired -- he can take it. He's a big, strong individual, he competes well. When we acquired him
the one thing we knew about him was he was really a big-game player and he's proven that and even more so.”
Captain of the Flyers, Mike Richards has a lot to learn from the last game as he made 10 shots on goals but still was not able to find the back of the net. Although he made eight shots on goal in the first game and managed a goal from them.
“I felt like if I had another eight shots like I had in Game 1 I would score,” Richards told reporters Tuesday. “(In Game 2) I had 10 and I didn't. It's frustrating.”
The game will be very exciting as the Flyers look to cut the lead while the Bruins will be looking to win and come closer to Conference Finals.
