Boston Bruins hosts the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fourth and final meeting between the two sides - NHL Preview
One of the definite exciting games of Saturday is the Boston Bruins playing host to the Pittsburgh Penguins at the TD Garden.
This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two teams.
Out of the three meetings that have already taken place during the course of the season, the Bruins won the first two, 7-4 and 2-0, but the Penguins managed to fight their way back into the series and won their last game by 3-2.
The Bruins haven’t been as successfully while playing home ice if we compare it with their performance during the road trips.
The Bruins face the Penguins on home ice after a six games home stand which ended with the game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The six-game road trip helped their cause a lot as they won all of the six games and after the win over Lightning, Bruins took the second spot in the Eastern Conference.
They will be looking to extend their winning streak to eight games with a win against the Penguins so as to close down the gap of the Conference leaders.
The Bruins' defence has been absolutely superb during the course of the last six games.
The goal keeping department has also been on its toes as they have allowed only seven goals during the road trip.
Bruins haven’t come up with anything extraordinary but notched up important points by scoring at crucial stages and winning the game in the end.
In their last game against the Lightning, the Bruins came up with a goal from Milan Lucic to win the game 2-1 in the end.
"I was just trying to look for the loose puck because there was enough guys in front of the net," said Lucic, who had the puck deflect to him off an official's skate. "I knew there was no real reason for me to get in there but just kind of wait around, see
if something popped out and it did."
The Bruins have played 64 games during the course of the season out of which they have won 38 games in regulation time and seven games in overtime to score a total of 83 points.
On the other hand, the Penguins have played 66 games during the course of the season out of which they have won 37 games in regulation time and eight games in overtime to score a total of 82 points.
The Penguins have come across a lot of injuries during the course of the season but have dealt with them impressively notching up wins against some of the stronger teams.
They are fourth in the Eastern Conference and can very well move up as they face the Bruins.
Though they don’t have the fire power but the return of Chris Kunitz would help them and boost their confidence.
